Salary: R 394 551,71 per annum (Post Level T12 of a Grade 4 Municipality)
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Trade Tested Artisan Certificate in the Electrical Trade industry (NQF Level 4)
- 3 – 5 Years relevant experience.
- A valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- Computer Literacy Certificate (MS applications).
- Good supervision, human relations, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sound mathematical and technical skills. Ability to give attention to detail.
- High level of responsibility and ability to work under pressure and handle conflict.
- Good sight, hearing and speech ability.
- Must be physically fit and healthy.
- Required to work in all weather conditions.
- Required to work overtime and/or outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime.
- Required to be on standby.
- Must perform duties in the whole municipal area.
- Fluent in 2 of the 3 languages spoken in the Western Cape Afrikaans, English or IsiXhosa.
- Please note: A performance agreement is also applicable to this position whereby the employer reserves the right to institute a performance management program.
Duties:
- Co-ordinate tasks and activities at Depots and Worksites associated with the implementation of procedures
- Monitor and report on sequences and outcomes of completed tasks and duties
- Assess the adequacy of procedures, systems and controls associated with vehicle, plant, equipment and material availability and the utilization thereof.
- Plan, prioritize and schedule Electro Technical projects and maintenance work in conjunction with the immediate superior
- Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, specifications, quality procedures, NRS, SANS, and the OHSAct.
- Co-ordinate and control tasks and activities associated with controlling personnel performance, productivity and discipline
- Monitor the attendance, conduct and output, and address deviations from agreed performance indicators through meetings and counselling or other approved methods designed to improve and motivate personnel.
- Monitor and evaluate progress with regard to the repair, construction, installation and maintenance work
- Provide information to residents and the general public on activities and work sequences associated with the electro-technical maintenance programmes.
- Manage the metering of all consumers to be installed, maintained and monitored
- Allocate personnel to attend to: New connections; Meter maintenance on defective meters; Investigation into illegal connections and tampering with electricity meters
- Check and ensure that new connections are installed and recorded according to Council Policy and relevant legislation
- Supervise the provision of new electricity connections to all approved applicants at both formal and informal houses
- Provide cost-effective and functional lighting in accordance with the Council Policy to designate areas
- Responsible for all street, high mast and area lighting maintenance
- Provide temporary electricity supply to public meetings, fairs, builders and related events in terms of Council Policy
- Receive requests for temporary electrical kiosks to be erected at functions, fairs, and any other related happenings requiring electricity supply
- Provide electricity to end users in compliance with NRS 048 that is reliable, sustainable and cost-effective
- Operate LV and MV distribution systems according to safety requirements and standard procedures
- Perform specific administrative tasks and activities associated with the updating arid maintenance of records and information related to the activities and operations at the Depot
- Check the details of transactional documentation including Works orders; Requisitions; Applications and Time attendance schedules prior to approving and submitting for further processing.

- Define and adjust the key performance indicators, job design and role boundaries of personnel against service delivery requirements.
