Water Management Devices

In accordance with Council policy, this situation offers households an opportunity to improve water consumption within acceptable, regulated levels with the installation of water management devices.

The water management device is an electronic device installed on the water meter.  This device is programmed to allow access to water based upon affordability and volume limits set for your specific household.  The current limit is 645 litres per day and applications can be made with the municipality by the registered owner/tenant of the property.

Once you have reached your usage limit, the device stops water flow and resets the following day.  Residents are billed only for the water consumed. These devices will aid residents with managing their water consumption and ensure that the billing for these services is affordable without incurring arrear payments.

Residents consistently consuming over 200kl per month will have these meters installed to curb usage and ensure adherence to restrictions.

The onus is upon residents to:

Only use the water they require

Pay for the services received from the municipality

Reasonably reduce water consumption to conserve water

Reporting water leaks and unauthorized use of water

Should you have any queries regarding water management devices, please contact Witzenberg Municipality Water and Sewerage on (023) 316 1854.
