NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN IN TERMS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REGULATIONS (2014, AS AMENDED)

Please note that an application has been made for the proposed development of the Skoonvlei Industrial Hub, Ceres, Witzenberg Municipality.

Notice is hereby given in terms of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations (2014, amended 2017) published in terms of Government Notice Regulations (GNR) No. 324 to 327, in terms of Section 24(5) of the National Environmental Management Act (Act No.  107 of 1998) (as amended), of the intent by Witzenberg Local Municipality, to develop Skoonvlei Industrial Hub, Ceres, Cape Winelands.

The applicant, Witzenberg Municipality, is following a Basic Assessment process as contemplated in the EIA Regulations so as to apply for authorisation for the proposed development to the relevant environmental authority, the Western Cape Department of Environmental Affairs & Development Planning.

In addition, a Water Use Licence Application (i.t.o. Section 21 of National Water Act, Act No. 36 of 1998) is being undertaken for approval by the Department of Water & Sanitation. Linked into the EIA is a Heritage Notice of Intent to Develop (i.t.o. National Heritage Resources Act, Act No. 25 of 1999) for approval by Heritage Western Cape.

You are invited to attend the public meeting on Thursday, 01 November at the Bella Vista Library, Ceres, at 17h00.

You are also invited to review the Basic Assessment documentation, which will be available to review from 18 October 2018, and will be available at the following locations:

  • Bella Vista Library – 2 Krisante St, Bella Vista
  • Witzenberg Local Municipality – cnr Voortrekker & Lyell Streets, Ceres
  • Construction site office – Skoonvlei Industrial Hub, cnr Boerneef & Forel St, Skoonvlei
