MANAGER: MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION (REF: COR 39)

Closing Date: 07 January 2019
Salary: R 580 013.81 per annum (Post Level T17 (subjected to final TASK approval) of a Grade 4 Municipality)

Requirements:

  • Degree in Marketing and Communication / Public Relations Management
  • Computer literate (In various programmes i.e.MS Office and Publisher)
  • 5 Years relevant experience
  • Code 8 Drivers license
  • Good human relations ,interpersonal,oral and written communication skills
  • Good management, strategic planning and administrative skills.
  • Ability to meet frequent predetermined, undetermined and conflicting deadlines
  • Financial managementskills
  • Conflict handling and negotiation skills
  • Ability to give attention to detail and high level of responsibility
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Need to understand layout and design (logo management, brochure and newsletter design)
  • Above average knowledge of broadcast and social media.
  • Fluent in at least 2 of the 3 languages spoken in the Western Cape Afrikaans, English or IsiXhosa.

    Duties:

  • Identifies, defines and implements the immediate, short and long term managerial objectives and plans for the relevant areas of responsibility
  • Keeping abreast with developments by conducting searches into best practices and analysing information associated with the functionality and determining the appropriateness of specific policies/procedures.
  • Directs and controls outcomes associated with the utilisation, productivity and performance of personnel in the Division
  • Defining and/or adjusting key performance areas/indicators, job design and role boundaries of personnel against service delivery requirements and standards.
  • Manages the formulation of specific contracts and tender documents and controls contractual obligations in respect of the relevant areas of responsibility
  • Prepares capital and operating estimates and controls expenditure against the approved budget allocations in respect of the Division
  • Recommends the compilation of by-laws/procedural requirements/policies pertaining to the various functionaries
  • Manages, co-ordinates and controls specific processes associated with the implementation, monitoring and communication phases of projects
  • Manages co-ordinates and controls key dimensions and requirements associated with communications and media.
  • Co-ordinating the operations of the various areas of the functionalities and managing the execution of procedural sequences and requirements associated with aligning standards to meet strategic objectivities.
  • Manages, co-ordinates and recordkeeping of query and emergency communication received
  • Manages and co-ordinates specific priorities, procedural applications, interventions and activities related to internal security
  • Co-ordinates key dimensions and requirements associated with tourism activities
  • Performing oversight and management of operations at the Thusong Centre
  • Compiling/disseminating strategic, functional and operational information/decisions on immediate, short and long term objectives and current developments, problems and constraints
  • Interacts internally and externally on specific issues related to the various areas of the functionality and completed work and/or work in progress
