Some of the best storytelling from Jordan Brand comes on the Air Jordan 3 ‘Free Throw Line’.

An homage to the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest, this pair of Air Jordan 3s has been one of the best storytelling releases we’ve ever gotten from Jordan Brand.

Not only is the 1988 Dunk Contest cemented in history as one of the most exciting ever, but it brought fans an iconic image of Michael Jordan that is known the world over. Instead of placing a bunch of strange colors on a shoe or pulling a random story from a moment many may not know of or remember, this moment is one that fans of the Greatest Player of All-Time still talk about today.

The Air Jordan 3 ‘Free Throw Line’ is nice overall. The quality is very similar to what we gotten on the recently released Air Jordan 3 Black/Cement. My particular pair looks amazing with thin elephant print along the toe, although I’ve seen other pairs with a higher patch of print in the same location.

If you were waiting for your pair to arrive or were interested in picking up a pair from a third party seller, we hope you enjoy our detailed look at the shoe.

Share your thoughts on this release below. Is it one of the best in terms of overall story and execution? Let us know.

  1. Nice shoe. No complaints there. 3s are always solid shoes. Only complaint I have is that the “Free Throw Line Dunk” first happened the prior year in 1987 when MJ was wearing AJ2s. For whatever reason, Nike/Jordan Brand repeatedly snubs the AJ2. They should’ve done a commemorative version of the 2 instead of the 3.
